We are a city of which the world knows

Harrachov is a city which prides itself with the attribute “centre of winter sports”. The world´s top ski jumpers and Nordic combination skiers come to fight for points in the World Cup for almost thirty years. Thrice also the World Championship title in skiing was announced here.

As the Mayor of Harrachov, I am very happy that our city is one of the successful organisers of top sporting events that attract thousands of domestic as well as foreign ski fans every year. The area of ski jumps at the Devil’s Mountain is the undisputed landmark of the city and its grandeur will catch attention of probably every visitor in all seasons. The FIS World Cup competitions are transferred by dozens of television stations and are also a great promotion of Harrachov in the world. I am also very pleased that in a relatively small mountain resort, with only 1,600 inhabitants, there is, and gets rejuvenated, a well-coordinated team of professionals who realize that in order to prepare a top competition, not only enthusiasm is needed, but especially hard work, constant gaining of experience and the need to innovate and improve the quality of the organisation. However, also Harrachov ski jumping complex must modify and improve to meet modern requirements. That is also why the implementation of the reconstruction of artificial lighting of this ski jumping complex was successfully completed, so that World Cup competitions in ski jumping can be executed in early evening hours, which is the most attractive time for spectators. FIS World Cup in ski jumping and Nordic Combination are the beginning and also the culmination of the season in our mountain resort. An innovation is that the start and the post of run in Nordic Combination will be executed on the run out of the big ski jumps where brand new track (2.5 km) was marked. I firmly believe that everything will be executed successfully for full satisfaction of all, i.e. the spectators, competitors and organisers.
