“Čerťák“ lighted up

After many months of preparation and the actual building, a symbolic end to the reconstruction of artificial lighting of the complex of big ski jumps in Harrachov was made. This happened on Wednesday, 18th November 2009, when testing of new lighting successfully met expectations. The whole Čerťák was illuminated for several hours and citizens as well as visitors to this mountain resort for the first time experienced a view which will be seen during the evening organisation of the World Cup competitions in ski jumping and in Nordic Combination, i.e. on 11th to 13th December 2009.

All of us waited for the result of both lighting of all seven lamp poles plus two run-ups. The reconstruction of lighting in the complex of our big ski jumps was undoubtedly the most significant investment in Harrachov in the last years. In total, more than CZK 32 million was invested from the sources of the Liberec Region and partly of Harrachov. This completed one of the first stages of the planned gradual transformation of this area into the facility corresponding to standards of organising top events in classical ski disciplines in the 21st century. The public service association Klasický areál Harrachov takes care of further proper development of the complex,” Harrachov Mayor, Tomáš Ploc, told us.

To secure full power supply for all the lights, it was necessary to borrow a special mobile “truck” charger which came to Harrachov at the set time. This form of electricity supply will be used in all events during which the complex will be illuminated.
