Ski Jumping Hills in Harrachov
Lyžařské skokanské můstky se staly nedílnou součástí Harrachova, ležícího 686m nad mořem.
Ski Jumping hills have become an integral part of Harrachov; town situated 686 metres above sea level. Harrachov, as one of the few Ski Jumping resorts in the world, has a complete set of eight Ski Jumping hills ranging form the smallest K10, through K18, K26, K40, K70, K90 and K125 up to the Ski Flying hill K185. The five bigger jumps are owned, operated and maintained in two separate areas by the company Sportovní areál Harrachov. The middle size hills are situated near Skicentrum hotel and include the Ski Jumping hills with the construction points at 40 m, known as K40 in skiers’ terminology, at 70 m (K70) and 90 m (K90). Since 1997 the last mentioned hill has been covered with an artificial surface made by SAJA Korpi from Finland and thus can be used also for the summer Ski Jumping. The large Ski Jumping hills are situated higher at Čertova Mountain. They were constructed between 1978 and 1983. The construction points are at 120 m (K120) and 185 m for the Ski Flying hill, which was set after its last renovation in 2000.
The technical and dimensional characteristics of individual Ski Jumping hills are stated in their certificates. To clarify for the non-insiders, the jump certificate is a capability document certifying that the hill´s characteristics comply with the specifications set for the construction of the Ski Jumping hills and their safety requirements. The Czech Ski Association issues certificates for the smaller jumps where the national Ski Jumping competitions are held and the International Ski Federation (FIS) issues certificates for the jumps where the international competitions are held.
