Welcome in Harrachov
The World Cup in Harrachov Cancelled Due to Bad Weather Conditions
4.12.2009
The World Cup in Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined in Harrachov, 11. 12. – 13. 12. 2009 had to be cancelled because of bad weather conditions.
Harrachov organizers have done their best to hold the competitions of the World Cup in ski dumping and Nordic combined in the given term. Regarding organizational and technical matters, everything have been prepared, however bad weather conditions did not help us to produce artificial snow.
Since Thursday early morning we had been trying to produce artificial snow, however the suitable temperatures were only temporary. Even on the places where the temperatures reached 5 degrees Celsius below zero, the snow production was very low.
The weather forecast is not any better for further days and that is why we were compelled to cancel the competitions, even though we put all the effort for their preparation.

We are a city of which the world knows
21.11.2009

Harrachov is a city which prides itself with the attribute “centre of winter sports”. The world´s top ski jumpers and Nordic combination skiers come to fight for points in the World Cup for almost thirty years. Thrice also the World Championship title in skiing was announced here.
The elite of world ski jumpers and combination skiers will come to Harrachov
21.11.2009

The term of the December competition is slowly getting closer and we already know that the entire ski jumping elite headed by the World Cup winner, Schlierenzauer G. from Austria, will be represented at the start. We expect 80 competitors on the starting field who will start on Harrachov ski jump HS 134 under artificial lighting for the first time. Well-tested champions headed by Roman Koudelka and Jakub Janda, Martin Cikl, Antonín Hájek, Borek Sedlák and Lukáš Hlava will defend our colours there.
“Čerťák“ lighted up
20.11.2009

After many months of preparation and the actual building, a symbolic end to the reconstruction of artificial lighting of the complex of big ski jumps in Harrachov was made. This happened on Wednesday, 18th November 2009, when testing of new lighting successfully met expectations. The whole Čerťák was illuminated for several hours and citizens as well as visitors to this mountain resort for the first time experienced a view which will be seen during the evening organisation of the World Cup competitions in ski jumping and in Nordic Combination, i.e. on 11th to 13th December 2009.
There are 8 ski jumps in the territory of Harrachov City. The biggest and most watched one is to become the centre of the ski-jumping world again in 2014.
In 2007 we submitted our application for candidature for the Ski Flying World Championship for 2012. Also Norwegian Vickersund applied for candidacy. Despite of all our effort we were not successful in competition against such a strong rival candidate at FIS Congress in Cape Town, South Africa. This year we submitted the application for candidature for Ski-Flying World Championship in 2014. We are the only candidate for the FIS Congress in 2010 which will take place in Antalya, Turkey.
I believe that changes in the organisation of World Cups and also HS 205 ski jump convinced responsible FIS workers that Harrachov is a town living for winter sports in general and ski jumping and flying in particular.
